CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

Shank test

Do you worry about what your beadwork will look like in 10 years? 50? I do. And I’m sorry to see the plating wearing off of the 24k gold Delicas I used to highlight this ring band from about twelve years ago. I was just testing the shank for size and shape before sewing one for the new ring, and I noticed how worn the gold beads were. Aren’t you glad we are getting so many more permanent finish beads? I am.

I’ll make a nice new fresh band for the Spiral Galaxy Ring today, using beads that will hold up to the decades.
