CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

Layout and Edit

Hello, beading comrades!

I’ve been in Spain for nearly the past month, writing and working on Volume II. I expect that we will be moving into the edit phase in about the third week of December, and going to press in January- not bad, exactly one year after the publication of Volume I.

So much work, so many ideas, have flooded in that it’s challenging and exciting to arrange them all in only 250 pages. The calendar (which runs for 20 months and begins March 1, 2014) will ship in December, while we expect the paper copies of Volume II to ship by in February, with the fully live eBook to be available in March of 2014.

I have been without my trusty MacBook on this trip (it failed, as important things are wont to do, the day before I left the United States, and so it has been in hospital and I have been out and about with my friend Kyle’s computer, which is slightly too elderly to load the CS5 layouts) so I’ve been working behind the scenes, on captions, the writing, and the general organization and digitization of the book and Resources section. Not as sexy as photo layouts, but still work that must be done.

As I come to the end of this wonderful project, I want to thank everyone who has contributed, beaded, submitted, and of course those who will shortly begin the edit process. This has been a true community work, in every sense of the word.
