CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

Pretty pretty

All of the holiday kits have been mailed out (Karen Beningfield’s Mowgli Bangle, Ronel Durandt’s Jedi bracelet, and my own Gaudi horned pattern) and the patterns are posting on the Bead Kit Patterns page here, for everyone who ordered.

The Mowgli pattern will also post on New Year’s Day on the Specials for Pre-Orders page for Volume II subscribers to enjoy. (Have you pre-ordered yet?)

Above, Kate’s Mowgli sample in process- lots more to come on this one!

The Mowgli is a variation on my Zig-Wing Bangle, which of course has already been posted on the Volume II Specials page, but Karen’s variation is exquisite, and deserved its own writeup.

For those of you who would like to see how the side increases in the Zigged Band are joined to make the petals (or slippers) I shot a bit of video, and posted it on our CGB YouTube channel.

I welcome your explorations of this technique, and can’t wait to see what you make!

Oh!! Oh!! Oh!!! Looks like I’ll be disappearing for the next week or so at least… immersed and submerged in Mowglis…. just yummy! Thanks to Kate and Karen. What fun. And such creativity.

Hi there! Kit passwords are for people who bought kits, and they can be found in the cover sheets for each kit. I’ll email you the Vol II password right now! : )
