an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators
Well! It’s time for a proper book launch. And the upcoming Tucson shows are just the place for it. Two big things to know:
I am going to be placing books at ALL of the Tucson shows. If you are exhibiting, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested in consigning or wholesaling them, and they can be delivered directly to your table on the opening day of your show.
Pre-order your wholesale delivery now, if you like, and I will include and deliver a stack of postcards, and a beautiful 18 x 24″ laminated poster of “56 Pieces” ready to hang in your booth.
Wholesale is at 50%, in increments of six copies.
Consignment (you pay for books sold at end of show) is at a 25% commission. At the end of your show, if you have unsold books, we will pick them up or you can buy them at wholesale and take them home. It’s a great deal and no hassle for you, as we deliver and pick up for free. And probably with chocolate, and a kiss, and some interesting people in tow.
Again, the link to the wholesale order with poster and free delivery is HERE.
Also: Kyle Cassidy, photographer to the gods, will be coming and YES we are doing a portrait shoot, on Friday, February 6th.
Joyce Rooks, by Kyle Cassidy, from the first Glitterganza in San Diego. Great news! We are doing it again in August, 2015! Mark your calendars for the Mingei Museum, August 15th. See Kyle’s Flickr collection of the whole Glitterganza shoot here at this link.
We will do drop-in shooting on an as-possible basis, but if you want to reserve a slot then do it now online. We will shoot you, your work, your work on you, or your work on one of our own beautiful models, or macro in a micro-studio, and you can watch or participate. The very reasonable price of $125 includes a full shoot, digital files, and publication rights – the number of images you get and time we will take will vary depending on complexity, your desire, and your sense of focus.
Efficient, focused people can fill up their stick with Kyle genius, and we will have sets, studios, and models of assorted genders at the ready. And/or get a new headshot or profile picture for yourself. My entire costume collection is OPEN for this shoot, with racks in the garden, and pieces in all sizes.
And as we said at the Fashion Institute, when we were doing the Green Room and Backstage Shoots for the NY Bead Society, no one ever regretted getting in front of Kyle’s camera. Here is Trillian Stars, wearing a piece by Robin Douglas.
And of course Kyle shot Gabriella van Diepen, Rayo Boursier and others for Volume I of CGB.
This is Rayo, at the Ranch, where the shoot is taking place. It’s just a few blocks from the Doubletree Hotel at Alvernon and Broadway, where the biggest bead show this year, To Bead True Blue, is happening.
The fabled Barbie Coach (the 1956 travel trailer we use as a photo studio and guest house) is in the background. It will be open for the shooting, plus there are arbors, vines, a sparkling pool, a wide porch, birds, cats, and many micro-sets for shooting.
Come and play with us. Isn’t it time to spiff up your portfolio?
