CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

The Pattern Dives

The Pattern Dives are a new concept from the project. The idea is to include the beaders who prefer to work from patterns in the creative process. New ideas come from exploration, and the Dives give a firm platform to both begin and to actively participate. Those who only want the pattern will get it – those who want to contribute creatively or have questions are welcome.

The PDFs for the project will update as we go along; those of you who are working with us can watch them grow and change if you like. Some updates will be editing; some will be new material. We’ll provide notes with each update, so you can see what we did.

When we finish, the Dive will result in a couple of pages of finished material for each of the three new books in process, and those pages could easily include your own Arrow or related piece. The Pattern Book will introduce the basic idea of the Arrow, and Volume III of the Explorer’s Guides will explore the pieces that can grow from it.

If you’d like to join us (please do!) get your ticket here.

Available immediately are:
•   Pattern Charts for two Pierced Arrows, designed and beaded by Kim Van Antwerp
•   Step by Step photo and text instructions on the basics of Arrowing
•   The gorgeous Flying V Slot closure, a way of doing a partial Separation
•   Dustin Wedekind’s beautiful illustrations for both Arrows and the Flying V
•   Open Arrrow graphs for colouring from the upcoming CGB Colouring Book

I kind of like the anticipation of waiting and reading all the other stuff you are doing. You are amazing Kate!

Thank you, Denny! I feel the same, it’s so exciting watching it all come together, this mountain of work. I work every day, and love it.

They are done when they are done, Bonnie, and we are not able to give you an exact date. I expect Spring now, but remember, pre-orders are ONLY for people who know they want the books whenever they come out, and you get a great deal by ordering early. If you are impatient in ANY WAY, though, best to cancel your pre-order and pay full price when they hit the shelves, because we just … can’t … answer hundreds of emails asking for a publication date.

We will know when we’ve got things in order.
