CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

The Butterfly Join

Both the Kaleidocycle and the BatCycle can be assembled from a flat butterfly shape, as well as from individual pieces and parts.

If you know you want to install both sets of Triangles in the BatCycle, a Butterfly Assembly could be for you.

Remember this page that we pre-released from the Cycles chapter?

or these, from the Möbius Messenger Cycle?

The critical thing in this assembly is to get the Valley Folds of the Warped Hexagons next to the center seams of the joined hexes. This takes some attention.

This piece, which I showed a bit of during our last weekend’s Zoom, has the hexagon centers removed. Deconstructing your cycle elements might not the best bet for a first BatCycle, but the look is very “butterfly”.

I’ll be talking more about this exciting assembly this Saturday, when we gather again. I am only doing Facebook Live this time, as it is easier for me to control and a Facebook account will not be needed to view. I will post a link later today to the live event, and the video will be saved for later viewing.

If we don’t have a Facebook account, how do we find the Facebook Live videos either live or recorded? I don’t see a link anywhere.

Oh yes, please see my post from yesterday. I will always give you a link, and the video will always be recorded. It may be edited substantially for a later summary, but the full FB nonsense will be available for all to view and we will see if non-users can participate in the chats. If not, don’t worry, I will have the comments open on the blog, in a NEW POST that will start when the FB Live starts. So please, follow us here at the Book Blog.

You will miss nothing, ever, if you start at our center.
