CONTEMPORARY GEOMETRIC BEADWORK

an open source architectural beadwork project from Kate McKinnon and a worldwide team of innovators

A New World

Just a note to say that I am excited to be in October, it has been a long journey since last we spoke, and as we approach our conclusion I am thinking of you with love.

It seems like a world away (and also yesterday) that Dustin and I put together our first ideas in the garden in Tucson, and how well I remember both the excitement of the new discoveries and the challenges of their interpretations. Through study and also through difficulty, I’ve grown into a whole person over the course of the project and I am someone that I never could have been without it.

It gives me happiness to think of bringing those first ideas back full circle for those of you who were there at the time and who also may well remember the thrill. It’s been a true epic quest and I’m left emptied out, grateful, and with my questions answered; who could ask for more? Our first Fellowship (for Kathryn Shriver) exceeded our hopes and she is now in her second year; when we publish this Fall we will be able to fledge our sabbatical support for Sam Norgard.

My communication will continue to be almost nonexistent for another few weeks (comments to this post are turned off and my email is on auto) but then at some point thereafter we will be dancing into your mentions everywhere you look with our first technical release (free to all) and a press schedule for the rest. I’ll see you on the other side.
